Using Decidim
General information
Overview
The participatory spaces house your participatory processes. Each participatory space has a presentation page, arranged differently according to the type of space. There are 4 types in Decidim.
Participatory spaces
Processes
Processes are adapted for the implementation of a time-bound participatory mechanism, with stages (participatory budget, classic consultation with proposal collection/voting for example, etc.). To find out more about Processes, click on this link.
Examples
The Citizens' Convention on Climate has used Processes as a thematic space for contributions.
The Swiss city of Lausanne uses Processes to involve citizens in the development of their urban activities.
Assemblies
Assemblies are better suited to participatory governance over a long period of time. It is also possible to create sub-assemblies and/or link a assembly with a process.
Assemblies can be useful, for example, for setting up a participatory mechanism within an organisation, allowing for the creation of working groups/sub-groups via sub-assemblies. For more information on assemblies, click on this link.
Examples
The city of Barcelona uses the assemblies for districts, to be able to link the Processes that correspond to one district or another.
Initiatives
Initiatives allow users to create an initiative which, after being moderated a priori, will be able to collect signatures for a given period. To learn more about Initiatives, click on this link.
Examples
The National Assembly allows citizens identified via France Connect to submit petitions, which can then be debated in one of the eight standing committees of the National Assembly, and under certain conditions, during public sessions.
The Senate's e-petitions platform allows for petition submission and the endorsement of already-published petitions. If several conditions are met, these petitions can be submitted to the Senate to request their inclusion on the agenda of a legislative text or to create a senatorial control mission.
Conferences
Conferences allow you to provide information about a particular event in order to give maximum detail about the programme, to benefit from a more developed registration module, etc. To find out more about them, click on this link.
Examples
The Decidim Festival is a yearly international event spanning several days of conferences and workshops to unite the community of Decidim enthusiasts in Barcelona.
